Hey there, fellow indie hackers and startup enthusiasts! Raymond here, founder of wisp, and I'm thrilled to share our latest progress and insights as we continue our exciting journey in the headless CMS space.
Setting Our Sights on Sustainable Growth
We've recently set an ambitious yet balanced goal: 7% week-on-week growth. This target strikes a sweet spot between aggressive expansion and sustainable development, allowing us to see a clear path to profitability without overextending our resources.
Want a deeper dive? Check out my 27-minute sprint review video on YouTube, where I walk through our entire process and share my thoughts on various aspects of our growth strategy.
Metrics That Matter: Our Weekly Pulse
Our primary focus is on Weekly Active Users (WAU), which we define as users who publish a blog post using wisp. Here's a snapshot of our recent performance:
Weekly Active Users: 34 (up 21% from 28 last week)
Total Blog Posts: 1,073 (up 11% from 965)
Total Users: 277 (up 10% from 250)
Revenue: 98 (stagnant)
I'm excited to report that three out of four key metrics hit our growth target, making it a solid week for wisp!
Wisp in the Wild: Real-World Impact
It's incredibly rewarding to see wisp powering real blogs out there. Check out these sites using our platform:
Seeing these live sites makes our mission tangible – we're helping people ship content to their customers, and that's exciting!
Diversifying Traffic and Improving Conversions
While our traffic remains concentrated from one primary source, we're starting to see promising diversification.
Untagged traffic sources are increasing, likely indicating growth in organic traffic. This is a great sign that our content strategy is paying off!
That said, I'm working on improving on attribution tracking to allow us to know what to double down on!
Behind the Scenes: Recent Improvements
New Blog Style: We've revamped the Wisp's blog with different sections catering to various reading preferences, including a "Build in public" section for our build-in-public posts.
Enhanced Onboarding: A simple video guide on how to use the editor has significantly improved user onboarding, helping new users become power users quickly.
AI-Powered Content: Our AI agent is now capable of writing well-researched blog posts, with human review for quality assurance. This is streamlining our content production process.
What's Moving the Needle (and What's Not)
While cold emails to founders and our glossary page haven't shown significant impact yet, we're seeing potential in other areas.
Here's what we believe might move the needle which I'll prioritise in the coming weeks:
ProductHunt Launch
1-1 Founder Calls
Cold outreach to people spending on PR
Retargeting ads on organic users on /compare paths
More developer-focused articles
Reddit engagement
Expanding our starter templates (e.g., Nuxt)
Marketing case studies
"Built with wisp" showcase
"Powered by wisp" attribution
A Word of Thanks
I want to express my gratitude for the encouraging messages and feedback from our users. It's truly motivating to hear that you're enjoying the product, and I make it a point to respond to as many messages as possible.
