Going beyond keyword research

Getting a bird-eye view of where you and your competitors stand helps us create a battle plan for your content.

Instead of a traditional single dimensional keyword research that presents lossy data and is intensive to create and maintain, we developed our own approach to understanding all the content semantically and present it visually.

Using this method, we can plot our content against all competitor's content in a 2D map where content that are similar to one another are co-located together. In addition, the size of the circle shows us the estimated search volume that the page receives.

From there, we can identify the following to guide our overall content strategy:

1. Keywords and content angle that have zero competition

These are clusters within the map that have high search volume (big circles) and do not have any competitors. These are usually very strategic content angle that brings in a lot of traffic to our competitor that we can easily rank for.

2. Highly contested territories with multiple wins

These are clusters within the map that have many large circles in close proximity but not overlapping one another. This identifies areas where we write multiple content with slightly different content angle to cover different parts of the topic and amass topical authority.

3. Upper funnel content expansion

These are clusters within the map that have very small number of circles from direct competitor but are occupied by indirect competitors. These presents opportunities to expand TOFU content.

4. Content saturation

In addition to finding areas to invest more in, we can also identify saturation area where we are already dominating the topic and more content in that area will only bring marginal traffic.

This guides us to allocate our resources to content angles that are most likely to bring in traffic.

Beyond Blog Posts: Experiment with 900+ Programmatically Generated Pages (pSEO)

We've previously created 'simple' product comparison pages that drove people who were researching CMS options to consider us. And because these users are already in the research phase, they're shown to be the most ready-to-buy visitors for us.

Our programmatically generated page were able to land over ~200 of high intent visitors each month with a 'silly' comparison page.

Our experience with deep research and content production means that we can cookie cut them for use outside of writing blog posts.

That's where we've decided to take the comparison page to the extreme by refreshing it with DEEP research and REAL user reviews that can be referenced.

Imagine what Google thinks of the page when it detect users clicking on every other link and staying for a full 10 minutes on each page.

We deployed the new version on 16th Feb and have seen promising results on less competitive keywords. This is something we've never seen before and we're excited to see how it performs.

Our guess is that it will minimally quadruple the traffic and conversion from the previous version.
